the neighbourhood
of the station
The project is an urban strategy as a result of a problem to regenerate the public space of the municipality.
A real project that tries to make a critique of the orders that the architects have and how architects should act before them.
Taking into account the times in which we find ourselves, there is a need for optimize the use of available resources, in a conscious and adequate architecture. it is essencial to go towards projects with a clear strategy and functionality, without neglecting creativity.
The municipality of Sallent, located in the region of Bages, is one of many other places that in a moment of expansion and industrialization grew rapidly and dispersed. The compact municipality was disintegrating and spreading with new neighborhoods that were isolated and disconnected from the historic center.
When the town hall set out us the possibility of improving one of the abandoned neighborhoods and turn it into a leisure space or green space, first, we consider the sense of the assignment. It is a neighborhood with an area 80000m2 that will continue to help this dispersion and that should make us rethink all the green and free spaces that we have around the town itself since we see that most of these are in disuse or without any care.
Therefore, due to the problem of the neighborhood of the station (a neighborhood evicted, abandoned by problems of subsidence) and the following analysis of the state of the municipality it is decided to develop a project strategy to invest the resources spent in the neighborhood of the station in the regeneration of free spaces, involving the population of Sallent in the process of project:
The neighborhood of the station is deconstructed in such a way that we can recover all the elements in the best possible state. In this way, instead of extracting waste, we generate resources.
The material that is extracted, it is decided to "store" temporarily in the squares of the urban center that suffer a lack of activity and vitality until its later reuse and introduced to the new life cycle. This is intended to make the population of Sallent aware of the process of the neighborhood resituation and in turn to breathe strength into these places.
The project bet for using economic resources to revitalize and consolidate Sallent. Revalue and concentrate the activity after years of depopulation instead of dispersing resources.
